TEACHING

“The personality of the teacher is the text that the students will read - the text that they will never forget.”

-
Abraham Joshua Heschel

During the past 15 years I have served as an adjunct instructor of Bible, guided pilgrimage experiences to Israel, designed and led group wilderness retreats, and taught at churches, schools, conferences, and camps around the country. I specialize in synthesizing complex theories across multiple disciplines, while including unique life experiences, current events, humor, and practical wisdom in inclusive learning environments for a variety of audiences. Whether it’s filling a pulpit supply need, or partnering with you to design an event, seminar, or retreat, I would be honored by the opportunity to discuss how my unique perspective, experiences, and skills could best serve your community, church, or organization.

My teaching experience includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Cultural and Historical Background of the Life of Jesus and the Apostle Paul

  • Parables of Jesus

  • How We Read the Bible

  • Understanding the Lives and Faith of Adolescents and Emerging Adults in North America

  • Parenting through the Post-High School Transition

  • Becoming a Christian Community for All Ages

  • Spiritual Formation and Transformation throughout Life Stages

  • Frameworks for Understanding the Evolution of Western Christianity

  • Introduction to Holistic and Incarnational Approaches to Christian Spirituality

  • Introduction to Contemplative Spiritual Practices
